Self Review Framework from the ICT Curriculum Team

The revised Self Review Framework will be launched on the 18th June 2010. Changes to the SRF will include a reduction in the number of elements, strands and aspectsl and all ICT Mark thresholds set at level 2. Information from Becta about the revisions.

The self-review framework offers you a route for assessing and improving your school's use of ICT. The framework is free to use via an online tool and is linked to the national standards for ICT. We can help:

  • show you what "good" use of ICT looks like
  • benchmark your progress against other schools
  • identify your strengths
  • produce action plans for improvement.

The self-review framework is based around a set of descriptors. These are statements that reflect a nationally agreed set of standards, and summarise different stages of maturity in the way your school might be using technology. By comparing your development against these statements you can identify where you need to improve to achieve best practice.

The framework is divided into six categories which will support and challenge your school. You can work through these at your own pace.

How to begin
You need to decide: Who will lead the review? How much time will be dedicated? Who will be involved? Which category to start with? Read the FAQ section for answers to your questions!

Using ICT"Accreditation of schools will continue until March 2011. Consideration is still being made as to the future of the scheme."
