The ELRS

The Literacy Centre at ELRS offers support to schools in organising and presenting resources in schools with both advice and practical help such as:

  • 'Adds' sessions.
  • Organising non-fiction and reference books.
  • Organising fiction.
  • Recommended lists.
  • Audit of stock.

Materials at the Literacy Centre at ELRS include books, reading schemes, story bags, collection by genre, age, theme, books for boys, CD-ROMs, bag books and professional materials. Among the other services we offer are:

  • Access to quality graphics production facilities to help you create material in colour and at minimal cost.
  • Opportunities to see and evaluate reading schemes, literacy support materials, 'real' books organised by theme, genre etc and publisher/supplier catalogues.
  • Sources of current information and ideas.
  • A range of new books and materials always on display and regularly updated.
  • Space for INSET activities.
  • Access to the Internet.

You are welcome to visit the Literacy Centre without prior arrangement. If, however, you intend to hold an 'Adds' session at the Centre or would like a guided tour, please let us know in advance so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
